Founded in 1955, Ege Kimya was one of the first companies to enter the field of manufacturing Industrial Chemicals in Turkey. A policy of sound and conservative growth has enabled Ege Kimya to export a very considerable portion of its production, to markets in Europe, Asia, the middle-East and North America. Ege Kimya is ISO9001 certified since 1997 and is a signatory of “Responsible Care” promoted by CEFIC, the European Confederation of Chemicals Manufacturers. Works for ISO 14000 & ISO 18000 certification are under way.

In 1955, a group of entrepreneurs founded Ege Kimya Ltd. Sti., a Limited Liability company to manufacture simple chemicals for use in the fledgling Turkish chemical sector. At the time, import substitution was the primary driver for Turkish entrepreneurs of all kinds and Ege Kimya soon became a company of the good reputation it enjoys to this day. Over the period during which Turkish Industry grew to its present sophistication, Ege Kimya was the first in its field in all of its endeavors, from manufacturing enamel frits for the porcelain enamel industry to silicas for rubber tyres; now both leading sectors in Turkish Industry.

Past ventures

Ege Kimya also acted as the founding father of two sectors in Turkey, both of which it has since abandoned in an effort to divert all its energies into its traditional field of chemicals. These fields are the growing for exportation of cut flowers in southern Turkey (since became a major field of activity in intensive farming in the region) and that of manufacturing of fruit yogurts, the first in a country where per capita yogurt consumption is among the highest in the world.



Egesil Kimya AS is a joint venture between Germany’s DEGUSSA Corporation and the Ege Group. Founded in 2001 by taking over the silica & aluminium silicates manufacturing division of Ege Kimya, Egesil Kimya continues to manufacture these products with an ever-increasing capacity to serve its increasingly growing customer base. The result of becoming an important contributor to Degussa’a global silica manufacturing & marketing effort, has made it into a top class manufacturer of silicas and aluminium silicates used in the Rubber Tyre, MRG (Mechanical Rubber Goods) as well as Paint industries. The total manufacturing capacity of 20,000 mt in 2005 will reach 30,000 mt per annum by the year 2007.

Polifen Kimya is a subsidiary of Ege Kimya engaged in the manufacture of 100% Acrylic Solid Surface products and sheets for sanitary purposes. The former is primarily used for kitchen and bathroom countertops while sanitary sheets are used for thermoforming bathtubs, shower trays and related parts. The total annual manufacturing capacity of ca. 7000 metric tones is gradually being increased to 10,000 tonnes by the year 2008.

Founded in 1983, Ege Italia has been the focal point of growth for Ege Kimya’s exports to Italy, its single largest export market. The organization includes on-the-spot technical assistance to customers as well as the regular services of importing and logistic support for Ege Kimya products.
